Hello all.

I have recently sold my domain name and all of the contents on my vBulletin forum to another licensed vBulletin user. I am using version 3.8.5 and he is using 4.0.

Now that the contents are owned by a new user, Matt, he needs to be able to upload an exact replica of my forums. I would like to provide Matt with a guide on the steps he must take to upload the site. He is rather experienced, but to ensure that no errors occur during this process, I wanted specific assistance from vBulletin support.

As soon as I can provide him with a guide, I will be transferring my domain name to Matt. Matt, who uses the exact same hosting service and plan as I do (GoDaddy) will then install vBulletin and attempt to upload a replica of the site that I have sold him.

So to be more direct, here are my specific questions:
1. What files must I provide Matt with so that a replica of my forums can be uploaded to his server, and how do I acquire these files?
2. Once Matt has installed vBulletin, exactly how does he use the files that I provide him with so that he may upload an exact replica of my forums?

I am in the process of moving our forum to a new server which is running
PHP 5.2.9


we are presently on vBulletin 3.8.2 and want to go to 3.8.5 until a later date when I have time to upgrade to 4.x

do both the above version 3.8.2 and 3.8.5 run on php 5.2.9???

I have just made the upgrade from 3.8.4 Pl2 and vbseo 332 to VB 3.8.5 and vb 3.5.2
Problem is, after upgrade I have lost all special characters from Romanian language and got replaced with different characters

I have observed that locale was deleted so I have uploaded again.
If I use now special characters they are posted correctly.

Problem is I can't change old messaged that contain special characters and now are displayed funny.

Is there a way to restore old messages to special characters ?

I just paid for the upgrade to vb4 but want to only upgrade to 3.8.5 to be able to use some mods I could not use in 3.6

So I followed all the instructions, downloaded the latest update package 3.8.5, uploaded the files, ran upgrade.php and went through dozens of steps going from version 3.7.0 to 3.7.3 where it took me back to AdminCP, "finished"

I looked all through the documentation, what exactly do I do next? There's no "next step" to continue updating to 3.8 ... I know for a fact I uploaded the 3.8 files, yet it still said its finished at 3.7.3

Does it have to do with my license? What am I missing here? :confused::confused:

I followed the directions...at first I made a new database, username, pw and uploaded it but when I do that it puts the files in folder like mydomain.com/public_html/username/forums and it makes me log in under that name (in the FTP program).

What I would like to do is log into my FTP program with my main domain name/username...so I tried logging into my FTP program and going thru the install, I got everything into a folder like mydomain.com/forums but when I run the install.php I get caught up. The first process goes fine but the second stops and I get this error:

Dunno, why its cutting off the M on .com? Also...I do not know the name of my MAIN database, when I create a new database in mySql it gives me the name but then I get stuck having to upload it under another username in the public section in the FTP.
