how can i merge 2 VB4.04 sites into 1?
impex does not allow it

I am working on importing my phpBB 3.0.7 forum to vbulletin 4.

Attachments have been imported successfully, but there are shown as text only like this:

I have to edit the post, and replace this odd code by selecting it and choose the related image from Attachments Manager (within Advanced Post Editor) or the file name from the Attachments button.

After this, I have another code like this:

[ ATTACH ]571[ /ATTACH ] (spaces added on purpose)

but after saving the changes, I have only the link but not the thumbnail.

I have set (Options) View Attached Images Inline = Yes, display thumbnail, and regenerated the thumbnails from Maintenance.

Again, I have only the link but not the thumbnail.

(1) Is there any way to fix that odd code automatically, so I don't have to visit each and every post and change the attachment code manually?...
(2) How can I show the thumbnails?

After installing new vBulletin, I tried import my blog categories however,,
impex cannot proceed further because I have 'importblogcategory' field was missing in 'blog_category' table..

same for blog table, `importblogid' field missing
same for blog_text table `importblogtextid` field missing...

Even if I've opened a ticket, a paid request of assistance, and paid a discrete amount of dollars for the entire suite, I'm still waiting and looking for a closer assistance to manage a conversion, from smf 2.0.RC3 to VB 4.0.4.
Tonnes of errors..looks easy to rewrite by hand topic by topic, and re-attach the all attachments.:cool:
I have a very small forum, such a seed, with 84 users, 1000 attachments, avatars and signatures.
Nothing work, attachments during the import operationall detected but totally ignored. Although I've in the past tried to buy a license of vB and left, due the impossible conversion of another huge forum, although googling and searching here into the forum for a solution...nothing, all I had was to be ignored.
Well, I've tried all, from my side of course:
1- tried to import into the db the attachments - no luck.
2- tried from smf folder to the different filesistem - no luck.
3 - tried with different stable versions of vB, cancelling and reinstalling 1000000 timest the all files...no luck.
In addition the following imports revealed total failure of the impex tool for smf:
1- attachments
2- smilies (don't care but..)
3 -avatars and user's avatars
4 - signatures
and I'm too tired to remember how many else.

Will I be lucky to find someone that help me to migrate the forum, from smf to vB?
When I've got with another forum the smf system, the staff helped me to bump from snitz without MySQL to smf, and either without any money request for assistance or for the software itself.
After some couple of hundred of dollars, ca I ask for the staff assistance? A ticket is open.
Please, let me know if is it possible, or SMF >< vB are not exchangeable, eventually (but Vb><SMF yes, for sure).

I think every customer who has paid you (vBulletin) our hard earned money deserves to know what the status is of Impex development.

As of now, there has not been a new release since February 7th. Support for import of most newer CMS's is either non-existent or flat out broken. This isn't what anyone expects when they shell out nearly $300 for your product.

Me, like many other people, have been left stranded, unable to use your product due to the lack of working importers. I maintain TechREACTION.net, which currently uses VB3.8 for the forums and Wordpress 2.92 for the CMS. I had always planned and hoped to migrate fully to VB Publishing Suite to make things easier for my members and staff.

Please give us a realistic and honest answer. Thank you.

Where can I find information on the stuff that failed during import? Is there a log somewhere that I can dig through to figure out what's broken in the target database?

I figured out which users failed by comparing the phpbb_users table and vb "users" tables, but it's a pain. Surely there's a log of the 12 users, 10 smilies, 8 posts, 4 polls, and 182 PM's that didn't come over... right?

I'm importing data from phpBB 2.0.22 using ImpEx 1.96. We have ~2,000 users in the old forum. When I ran it the first time, I got new userid numbers in the 1 - 2,000 range. When I deleted the import to re-run it again (using the 'Delete Session and all imported data' link), it deletes everything, but the next import I run I end up with user numbers in the 2,000 - 4,000 range. The "next user number" counter never seems to get reset.

Is this on purpose? Is there any way to reset that back to 2 ("admin" is the only user in the new database; all the rest are imported from the old forum)?

Or is this something I should be ignoring and not worry about? :)
